United Airlines passenger allegedly assaulted flight attendant, tried to get into cockpit
A man was detained after being accused of attacking a flight attendant and trying to get into the cockpit on a flight as it landed at Newark Liberty International Airport Saturday, authorities told CNN. The 48-year-old suspect was taken to a hospital for psychiatric evaluation, the Port Authority Police Department told CNN. One person on the plane refused medical attention and no other injuries were reported, police said. Three people are dead and at least three others are sick after a suspected outbreak of hantavirus aboard a cruise ship sailing in the Atlantic Ocean, the World Health Organization said Sunday. The three dead were cruise passengers, said Oceanwide Expeditions, the company that operates the ship, called the MV Hondius, which is currently anchored in Praia, the capital of Cape Verde, an island nation off the west coast of Africa. Passengers will not be allowed to disembark in Cape Verde, the country’s health minister Maria da Luz Lima told Radio Cabo Verde on Sunday. However, local health authorities have visited the ship and assessed two symptomatic crew members “requiring urgent medical care,” Oceanwide Expeditions said in its statement. Hantavirus can cause a severe and often deadly respiratory illness called hantavirus pulmonary syndrome, which killed Betsy Arakawa, the wife of the late actor Gene Hackman, last year. Humans most commonly become infected through contact with rodents like rats and mice, especially with their urine, droppings and saliva, according to the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Nine people were taken into custody Saturday night after an anti-ICE protest took place outside of the Wyckoff Heights Medical Center in the New York City borough of Brooklyn, according to the NYPD.The Department of Homeland Security said in a statement to ABC News that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers arrested Chidozie Wilson Okeke, a Nigerian national whom they claim was previously arrested for assault and criminal drug possession. One of the Trump family’s biggest early crypto backers is now a foe. In response to claims of fraud by billionaire Justin Sun, the Trump-backed crypto firm World Liberty Financial filed a countersuit for defamation on Monday in Florida State court, claiming its former ally engaged in “a scorched-earth pressure campaign” against the crypto project as Sun pushed World Liberty Financial to release hundreds of millions of cryptocurrency he owned. Sun is a crypto entrepreneur reportedly worth around $11 billion, and he’s funneled nearly $200 million into the Trump family’s digital assets projects. That includes the $75 million Sun spent on a cryptocurrency issued by World Liberty Financial and another $100 million on acquiring a store of President Donald Trump’s $TRUMP memecoin. VENTURA, Calif. (AP) — Britney Spears is set to be arraigned in a California courtroom Monday morning after prosecutors charged her with driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs. But it will probably be only her lawyer who appears in front of a Ventura County judge. Prosecutors charged the 44-year-old pop superstar with one misdemeanor count on Thursday after her March 4 arrest.Since then, she voluntarily checked into a substance abuse treatment center. The misdemeanor charge level means she is not required to appear and her absence won’t count against her. A search is underway for a 22-year-old Northern Kentucky University student who went missing nearly a week ago, according to police.The missing student, Murry Alexis Foust, was last seen on April 27 in the Latonia neighborhood of Covington, about nine miles south of Cincinnati, according to a statement from the Covington Police Department."At this time, there is no indication of foul play.
