May 1, 2026, 6:10 p.m. ETJust as Texans were about to break out their swim gear, a cold front is rolling in, with a "light freeze" possible in parts of the state.The National Weather Service Climate Prediction Center is forecasting temperatures falling below seasonal averages across the Lone Star State as it heads into the first week of May."Some record low maximum temperatures may be set in the Southern states, with highs in the 40s and 50s in some locations, compared to historical averages in the 70s to near 80," AccuWeather Meteorologist Brandon Buckingham said.
